A Change of Art
Since putting together the temporary-frames project in our current issue ("Quick Change Artists", p. 50), I couldn't wait to create my own vinyl-sleeve gallery at home. I went through a couple of slightly off arrangements before I found one that looked right: a collection of family portraits in yellow frames.

An equally easy idea I experimented with on the same blank span of wall: using The Rasterbator (pardon the name), which I read about on Apartment Therapy a while back. You just upload a digital photo, and (for free) they convert it to whatever enormous size you'd like. They send the enlarged version to you as a series of PDFs; print them on regular 8 1/2-by-11 paper and assemble like a puzzle. I blew up a black-and-white shot of my son Luca, and I think it was about 32 sheets large. My dad now has it hanging in his painting studio, because my husband wanted me to put the sleeves back up!

You can buy small quantities of the Lineco job jackets from JobJacketStore. While we also sell other brands the Lineco brand has a look and feel that is just top quality.
The Lineco colors are true colors. The neon colors you see for less money are really designed for office products and are usually vinyl. One of the great things about the Lineco product is the fact that you can get acid free polypropylene jackets, which are rare.
We sell several brands and many style job jackets. Don't be fooled by the lower priced jackets, they are a different product and work great for offices and manufacturing facilities.
My recommendation is that anyone trying to get the look discussed here really is looking for the Lineco brand, and specifically the Lineco polypropylene jackets.
At our site, JobJacketStore, you can buy them in as few as one or as many as you like.

Does anyone know if the lineco red jacket frames are a true red or florescent red? I just ordered a batch from www.uline.com, but they are a florescent red - borderline pink. FYI, they are a lot cheaper there, but vinyl vs polypro. Does anyone else know of any other resources for ordering these things? A google search turns up very few options.

I enjoyed the job jackets idea but was dissapointed to find that I need to order 25 minimum of each size job jacket. Since the kids art I want to display varies in size, this won't work for me. Oh well. Any ideas?

I've been looking for a way to display a set of beautifully illustrated alphabet cards in my daughter's room. The job jackets are a terrific way of mounting the cards without damaging the illustrations. Thanks for the terrific ideas!

It would be cool if you put the print outs from The Rasterbator in the job jacket frames to create a huge titled portraits.

The source in the magazine is www.lineco.com.
You can also Google for "job tickets" or "job jackets" and find lots of other sources with other colors, some fluorescent.

Please provide on-line resource to purchase those yellow/red/blue job jacket frames, and do they come in black? Loved the idea and wish to get some for friends to frame all the "mom art" we have.
