One of the hardest parts of this job is cutting shots from stories. A couple of my favorites from our past two issues didn't run, and every time I think of them, I kick myself. Because of course, in hindsight, they seem like the best shots, and I can't fathom how they could have gone unpublished. But now that we have this blog, at least I can share some of the outtakes with you -- starting with this one, from fall's "Exclamation Points!" story.

I love both the dress (Zero by Maria Cornejo) and the loafers, from Church's English Shoes, which models its women's styles after men's classics like wing tips and jodhpur boots. I've borrowed them for several stories; here's another pair, in another shot left on the proverbial cutting-room floor (from our March/April "Foundation Pieces" spread):

Church's doesn't have a website, but you can call 212-758-5200 to order. I own some of their loafers and have worn them nonstop all winter. The above jumper's from Theory and the blouse by Alara. ***Update: And yes, as Hatch, The Design Public Blog picked up on, the model sits atop the Strut table by Blu Dot.***
This next unpublished photo is from the same shoot, and it features something else I've been known to borrow for just about every story: Jane d'Arensbourg glass jewelry.

I just love her designs, and the tempered glass should be just as sturdy as labware (although I'm not vouching for that). I've also been infatuated with this Elijah top since the moment I first saw it. This fairly new label is making some very special Swiss-cotton tops, all carefully cut and shaped and considered -- pretty remarkable, overall.

these are wonderful! the outtakes are so exciting & inspirational for me, thank you for sharing...(and oh! d'arensbourg's jewelry...just wow.)

Love the photo showing Jane D'Arensbourg's necklaces. I have been wearing her rings, earrings and necklaces for years and find it all very durable. It is Pyrex, a very strong type of glass. The other thing I like about her jewelry is that it feels very light on my skin. And glass seems to work well with anything. The model looks "normal" to me...

Love that last shot - the exuberance of the model really shows.
I couldn't disagree with "Janet" more.

I feel sorry for the model. She is way too skinny, and the necklace looks way too heavy on her. Is this how Americans want to be -- gaunt with no muscle tone? I don't think it is a very healthy image to be promoting. I expected more from BluePrint. It is disappointing.
