When I find a great piece of clothing at a great price, the first thought that pops into my head is, nobody will believe it when I tell them where I found this! And tell them I will. So go ahead, ask where I got this new spring coat.

OK, fine, I'll dish. I spotted it in the window of Zara last week and was instantly reminded of the bold orange coat Alice Ritter sent down her Spring 2007 runway.

(Alice Ritter cotton-canvas coat, $688 at Beanie + Cecil, 910-509-9197)
I loved the daring color and thought it was a perfect statement piece for spring (plus, it goes nicely with all of the purples that are around right now). However, it's a serious investment for most people. If you're not ready to make that type of commitment, the $99 Zara one is a great alternative. But you'd better go now -- the turnover there is fast.
Oh, and might I mention that within an hour of wearing my new purchase, a fellow fashion-industry worker asked me if it was Marc?

That is such a cute jacket! I wish I could have it. But it's expensive!

Now all I need is for someone to buy one for me and ship it. Damnit, Seattle is a big city. Why don't we have the good stuff???
