“Where am I going to put this?!” has been the recurring question since I moved into a 250-square-foot Brooklyn studio a few weeks ago. This is generally followed by dizziness, sweating, and shortness of breath. Then I wonder if I'm just too high-maintenance -- perhaps I should be grateful that my anorexic kitchen offers a sink, a fridge, a mini stove, and two shelves (you know, because that's plenty of space in which to store every piece of kitchenware I own).
Thus, I am inclined to celebrate the one thing in my kitchen that I really did get excited about: a metal basket hanging on the side of the fridge, which serves as a happy home for my forks, knives, and spoons. Check one storage dilemma off my list.

I wish I could take credit for such cleverness, but I can’t. I inherited the basket from the guy before me (Buster), who got it from the guy before him (Jason). A few prying e-mails and phone calls led me to Jason’s tale of how the hanging holder came to be:
“I had the idea 'cuz, you know, the storage space in there is next to zilch. I bought the basket at the hardware store on Fulton [Sisters Hardware, 718-399-7023] for like $2, but I needed some really strong magnets -- with hooks -- to hang it on the fridge. I went to the Lowe's at Smith and 9th and scoured the aisles high and low until I got lucky and found those really cool silver ones. I was pretty psyched.”
You and me both, Jason.

I totally love the idea of having silverware there, neat!
and different!

What a splendid idea!
I could do with one (or two) of these for many reasons... a multi-purpose storage saviour! How clever...

Yes, a great idea. But I was wondering on another line, the safety of the outdoor lamps of the Martha Stewart outdoors line sold exclusively at Kmart. I trust Kmart, so I am positive that these lamps can brave the elements. They are attractive, functional and decorate. I will only buy Martha Stewart products at my local Kmart.
Never let Macy's sell them. Macys is very expensive. And they do not offer the value that Kmart offers everyday.

That's a great idea for even those with not so tiny kitchens.
