No matter how carefully I check the dryer, and no matter how mindful I am all winter, I always end up with lonely single socks and gloves hanging around the house (perhaps waiting for their long-lost partners to reappear). Well, Japanese crafter Miyako Kanamori says it's time for them to move on. His simply titled book, Sock and Glove, which arrives in the U.S. on June 5, presents an array of downright adorable reincarnations for your heartsick hosiery.

The projects, from bears to dogs to fish and beyond, are laid out with easy-to-follow diagrams, and the photos of the finished products are beautiful and inspiring. This book would make a wonderful gift for any crafty lady in your life, and its "softy friends" would make wonderful gifts for children and grown-ups alike.
