The last thing I'd call myself is picky. I'll eat anything, I love all types of music, and I will watch virtually anything on TV (provided it's NOT Law & Order). However, you can call me picky-as-a-4-year-old when it comes to three things: shoes, bags, and jewelry. Once I find something I like, I hold onto it forever. Cases in point: the earrings I've worn every day since high school, the Kate Spade makeup bag I used every day after my 17th birthday -- until a tragic exploding lip gloss incident rendered it sticky and useless -- and some black pumps that have been to the cobbler one too many times.
So when it came time for me to purchase a new handbag, I was willing to invest, and I spent days online until I finally found It. My dream purse. The Botkier "Bianca" satchel, in silver.

Silver has always been one of my favorite colors (although, according to my fellow intern Rachel, it's not actually a color). Most of my jewelry is silver, I've gone through several pairs of silver flats, and I've even tried silver eyeshadow (which was not as successful). So a silver bag seemed perfect. Especially this one, which stands out with its giraffe-y print, while the khaki accents make it more casual.
It's big enough to hold all my essentials -- including a whole box of contact lenses for emergencies. It works with everything I wear, from my trendiest outfit for meeting my best friend at Morimoto to sweats for pigging out at my favorite diner. And an abundance of pockets help the notoriously disorganized me always know where the heck my MetroCard is.
My bag has already drawn compliments from colleagues, stares on the subway, and even a shout-out from a passing car full of NYPD officers -- thanks, guys! I have a feeling it's going to remain on my arm for a long, long time. Just hopefully not as long as my "I had a Looney Time at Jessica's Bat Mitzvah!" tee. Yeah, I really should get rid of that.

when i read your post, i couldn't help but find myself in your words. holding onto my purses forever, they become loyal friends day in and day out, through the months, seasons, and years. i recently found that perfect purse and was thrilled when i read that someone else shared that joy...the joy that even extended to the trusty, cobbler-reinforced black pumps and monogrammed silver earrings that have supported me in every situation.
i couldn't help but smile when i read that you'll watch anything on TV minus Law & Order, but you'll eat all types of food and listen to all types of music. i'm glad i'm not alone in my non-picky pickiness.
enjoy the purse!

Hi Tony, It looks like Shopbop sold out of the medium silver bag as soon as I posted my blog entry (though they do have the silver in a smaller sized - and equally adorable - clutch)! I called the company and the woman who answered said they would have the medium silver bag on their site (http://www.botkier.com) once again later this week. Happy hunting! Best, Kim

Where did you find this bag and color combo? I can't find it at the site you link to.
Thanks

Metro Diner's one of my faves, too, so you must really have good taste.
