More Swede Things

Time for more tips for your upcoming trip to Sweden! Yes, you have to go. And you absolutely must visit Svenskt Tenn. It's filled with Josef Frank’s inspiring designs: furniture, fabric, wallpaper, lighting. I want it all!

Then there is Skansen, one of the largest open-air museums in the world. When I went, it was raining and I was tired, but I forgot all about that as soon as I saw the amazing buildings and interiors.

Be sure to stop at the Skansenbutiken to buy some beautiful wooden brushes and scoops.

I also shopped at UNI, an adorable children’s store where I found a pair of shoes for my son.

Of course, no shopping trip would be complete without some vintage. There are tons of great spots in Sodermalm.

Another find: MD, which was a transcendental dining experience centered around food created with Japanese precision -- so beautiful and delicious. The main dining room is of the most beautiful spaces I have ever eaten in: pale gray walls and pale yellow leather chairs, food brought out on gray lacquer trays, a giant marble table that holds giant wheels of cheese, and wine poured over a candle, the old-fashioned way. But you can enjoy an equally stellar meal in the bar restaurant next door.

Here are some other things that my husband and I saw and loved during our trip:

* leather-wrapped door handles

Rr29

* cement letters that create a railing (on the steps of a cement factory)

* Hangla gum. The word translates to "makeout" in English, so this is "makeout gum"! There's even a space for your phone number on the back of the pack.

* great bags from a store called 10 Swedish Designers

Well, I could go on forever. We had an amazing time, for so many reasons. Next, my Italy post!
