Dallas Shaw Wallpaper Paintings

We were planning on using some prints by Florida-based artist Dallas Shaw in upcoming issues of Blueprint…so we figured we'd pay our respects here. When we contacted Dallas she told us that she'd just launched a new website to better showcase her work, which draws heavily from fashion.

Our favorite pieces are her outline paintings on wallpaper. She mostly uses vintage papers but gave up a great source: “Some of the newest pieces are done on more modern wallpaper from Mod Green Pod -- plus a few other rare textiles I’ve found throughout my travels.”

Dallas also gave us a sneak-peek into her process – so take note, aspiring artists: “I find inspiration everywhere and always carry three different cameras in my purse which is a bit excessive, but I always have to get the right shot because color is so important to me.

She even let us into her studio: “I spend hours in my studio so I am very attached to my desk. No matter how hard I try to keep it organized, it’s always a mess by the end of a project.”

very inspirational for my own art making!

The OX-OP gallery in Minneapolis had a show that this reminded me of 5 years ago by The Charles S. Anderson Design Company.
