Our personal fashion guru, Katie Hatch, has been obsessed with Jane D’Arensbourg’s elegant glass jewelry for ages. She recently (finally!) scored a pair of D’Arensbourg’s glass drop earrings and couldn’t be happier. While D’Arensbourg is well known for her delicate links, I love the idea of these knuckle-duster rings rendered in precious glass. Were I fluent in fashion-ese, I might wink at their inherent contradiction by calling them “pretty tough.” But I won’t.

I will cop to drooling over another ring spotted on a co-worker: the Frank Gehry for Tiffany Torque ring. With its subtly twisted, sculptural-yet-minimalist design it’s got Gehry written all over it – and is a much cheaper than buying into any of his buildings. It comes in frosted rock crystal (which reminded me of D’Arensbourg’s glass rings), banded agate, and ebony wood. It also happens to be the first thing I’ve ever wanted from Tiffany & Co. Hopefully, it stops here.

These are great - I love Jane D'Arensbourg's work.

I've so often found jewelry that I love based on designers that are cited in the magazine or on Bluelines - does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for designers who take commissions for custom work? I'd like to have an engagement ring and wedding bands made that are more artistic and original that what one usually finds with "design your own ring" options. (I feel a little strange asking a wedding related question here, since I HATED the idea of merging Blueprint with MS Weddings, but I appreciate the style of the Blueprint team so much...)
