My friend Lauren is always wearing a cool bracelet -- brown criss-crossed leather with metal buckles -- that reminds me of something by luxury brand Hèrmes. When I asked her where she got it, she said that she made it...out of ankle straps plucked from a pair of shoes.

She buckled the opposite ends of the two ankle straps together to form one longer strap...

...then wrapped it around her wrist and buckled the remaining ends.
And the best part is that she can re-attach the straps when she feels like wearing the shoes again. How resourceful!

Okay, that is cool.

Okay, I love this! And what a great excuse to buy another pair of shoes ("I must buy these shoes, because I need the straps for a bracelet")!!

Love this idea! It's great from a fashion standpoint and from an environmental standpoint. Keep these easy, affordable, re-usable ideas coming.
I, too, did not know about Blueprint until it was too late! I love the January issue so much and I'm so sad to see it go. But I'm glad it lives on online!

Clever girl. Now I'll have to look for something like this.
BTW, I've just started reading the Jan/Feb issue, and I have to say, it's heartbreaking.
