While in Portland, Oregon, a few weeks ago, I noticed terrariums everywhere. Supermodern, lush, and green, they were gems of color against the cloudy skies. I'm not sure if they are more popular in Portland or if terrariums are just becoming a more feasible method of having plants because of their ease of care . Check out this video on how to make one of your very own.

I have a terrarium and love it. Every few months I restyle it (usually I've killed a plant or two by then!) and often change its location as well. I love having touches of green everywhere--especially in the winter.

Wow. My best friend's dad is a terrarium making machine. I'll have to pass this on to her!

Bonus! I was just trying to convince my architect husband the other day that terrariums are slick, cool & hip... now I have even more fodder for my argument! Thanks.

when i heard the word terrarium, what immediately sprung to mind was the rather sad, grubby things we had to make with old plastic soda bottles in fourth-grade science class.
these, on the other hand, are wicked. maybe i should have kept on practicing my terrarium-arranging skills.
damn and blast.
