As the proud renter of a new apartment, I have been on an endless search for the perfect piece of art to hang on my unbearably white walls. Because I am a terrible decision maker, I have settled on two distinctly different yet equally beautiful options.
For the largest (and therefore most blindingly-white) wall, I waited to score the perfect vintage school map on eBay. Remember in middle school when your crusty history teacher would struggle to keep the map of Europe pulled down while discussing the Thirty Years' War? Well, now I can reenact that experience in my own living room...
...except for the fact that mine is a map of the United States. I guess I'll be giving lessons about Lewis & Clark.
Etsy's website offers innumerable solutions for unique and affordable art. Shortly, my walls will be adorned with the aloof beauty of work by labokoff, a French artist who digitally mixes her original photographs with painting.

I love labakoff's photos...so talented!

Love the map! Mine has a cork board built into the back so I can mark the places I have been. http://transienttravels.wordpress.com/2008/03/24/next/
Can't wait to look into Etsy to fill the rest of my wall.

Thanks for posting about Etsy!! I'm a seller on Etsy and am addicted to it (: Buying and selling. It's such a great site to find just about anything you're looking for and they're all unique.
When I was younger I used to collect old maps from National Geographic mags and paste them on the walls and ceiling of our room (: The old ones looked especially cool!

I tried to do the simple and serene decor of beiges, but found that it wasn't me either! I am painting a whole wall of patchwork right now! That will definitely cure the beige blues!

I really appreciate the attempt to redesign the Blueprint blog so that we've something left of the wonderful magazine it was - however, one post a day, two posts if we're lucky, and some days with no updates at all? It's not really worth checking.
I'm pretty let down by the redesign thus far. With all of the creativity we've seen from the Blueprint team, I expect, and hope, for something much more beautiful, useful (as in, not just things to buy) and prolific.

Love the idea of a map on the wall. And I love the artist you featured - thank you so much for sharing their info!

I just moved into a house at the end of January, and we still have tons of bare walls. I'm going crazy. I have to find something to take away the bare space.

Fascinating. But I am plague with the wonder of if you intentionally misspelled Lewis and Clark...or am I missing something in this post.
