Posted by ErinAs an urban-dwelling gardener, I have to make many sacrifices. Every year I plant one giant strawberry pot with various herbs that will last me through the summer. I put it outside in front of my apartment (so a few rays of sun reach it) and pray that the squirrels don't have their way with my basil. Besides the flower pots lined up along my (one) windowsill, that's the extent of my gardening. Two things have recently assuaged my throbbing green thumb: A Way to Garden, an excellent gardening blog by Margaret Roach, the former editorial director of Martha Stewart, and these funky padded thigh-high socks which are a part of a book about knitting socks called, "Love to Knit Socks." Gardeners of all stripes know that kneeling in a flower bed (or in my case, on my concrete front steps) can wreak havoc on the joints. These are so simple and practical, yet seem so stylish in a totally absurd, rustic way. I'm going to start knitting mine soon. If it takes me longer than expected, I figure I can pair them next fall with a corduroy skirt.

Oooo, how sassy and cute! By the way, I love the banner redesign! I'm finally getting use to the blog style over the print style. Keep up the good work!
