
Mango smoothie
- 1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk (50 calories)
- 1/2 cup mango chunks (50 calories)
- 1/8 teaspoon each cardamom and ground cinnamon (optional) ice cubes
Place buttermilk, mango, spices (f using), and 3 ice cubes in a blender and puree until thick and smooth.

This sounds delicious, but I have one question. What can be used in place of cardamom? It is very hard to find in my area and when I do find it the cost is ridicules.

Hi Linda,
Instead of cardamom, add a little cinnamon and nutmeg, or simply do without. It is an expensive spice that has a fragrant almost perfume like aroma and flavor that’s often used in Indian cooking and Swedish coffeecakes and other desserts. But no worries, it would be delicious without it!
