The Fourth of July is a day for cooking out with a crowd, and sometimes the party (and the entertaining) can continue for days. On the big day, we replay our favorites from parties past, but what do we do the day after with the guests still in town?
If you plan ahead, you can turn your leftovers from a big cookout into fresh dishes the day after.
One of my favorite things to throw on the grill is corn. Smoky and sweet, grilled corn is a versatile side that compliments your favorite ribs or burgers. If you throw a few extra ears on the grill, leftovers are also great as a component to salads. Try our recipe for Grilled Corn and Tomato Salad and see for yourself!
If you have some extra steak from your cookout, try transforming your leftovers into a delicious Thai-Style Steak Salad. Substitute your grilled meat for the steak in the recipe, and you’ve already saved yourself some ingredients and time in the kitchen. The bright flavors and textures from the lime and crispy romaine lettuce will compliment your grilled steak nicely, without giving you away to your guests for having taken any shortcuts.
So, throw on that apron and roll up those sleeves one less time this holiday weekend by making your life that much easier with leftovers. Happy Fourth of July!
