Today, I am savoring the last moments of my vacation in Maine with my husband. Our trip has been filled with local seafood and simple culinary pleasures of the freshest summer ingredients.
To me, the best celebration of summer sweets starts with local, in-season fruit. We found one of our favorite desserts from this trip in a roadside diner: a fresh blueberry pie that overflowed with bursting blueberries and a soft sweetness.
Although we all have our favorite blue-ribbon fruit cobblers, buckles, crumbles, and pies that we put on parade throughout the summer, I am reminded of a unique and simple recipe that we had in the test kitchen recently: Blueberries with Maple-Whipped Cream.
It embraces ingredients that I have become very familiar with over the past few weeks here in Maine -- blueberries and maple syrup -- but the best part about it is that it comes from one of you!
One of our readers wrote in with his favorite dessert that combines local ingredients and summer's bounty.
Do you have a favorite, unique dessert that celebrates your favorite fruit?
Leave a comment to share your ideas AND be sure to send the complete recipe to us at readerrecipes@marthastewart.com. We'd love to put it in the magazine!

"To me, the best celebration of summer sweets starts with local, in-season fruit." I couldn't agree more.
