A Furry Fete

We recently hosted an impromptu birthday party in Bedford for two of my Himalayan cats, Verdi and Vivaldi. Their feline friends happily convened for the occasion, no doubt anxious for a piece of the tiered cakes, made with all-natural cat food and sprinkled with kibble. It was so adorable that we have decided to throw another one this month for Mozart, who will turn 16. This time we might add some handmade hats, fresh milk, catnip mice for party favors, and of course another round of miniature layer cakes for the birthday boy and his guests.

These photos are wonderful. I remember Candice Bergen used to talk about having birthday parties for her dog complete with costumes (on pets). Great fun.

Wow! I love cats soooo much. Those cats look so sweet! How many pets do you have total?

Oh, that's perfect. Your cats seem so well-behaved. Can't say I'm surprised, but I'm astonished that they were able to be corralled onto the table! I've always admired Vivaldi. What a beautiful animal!

oh! i love this! seeing these adorable pictures made my day! cute idea for the cakes too! love you martha!!!

This is so stinkin' cute! I can't help but wonder if all the party gets received goodie bags with catnip and felted wool mice. And I *really* can't help but wonder how the cats were persuaded to pose for pictures when there are two kitty-cakes right in front of them.

Adorable!

Martha your cats are so beautiful and so well behaved. Did they go to obedience school? I love almost all cats but your Vivaldi is my favorite! Looks like a very lively party going on there!!!!

What a gorgeous group of feline's! I have this on my desktop--your cat's birthday party! They just look so cute and sweet. I wonder what they are thinking....so so dear!

Thanks for sharing.
Fondly,
Janie

Dear Martha,

Im so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother. I love the pictures of your cats, their too cute.

I am so delighted that I found your blog site on "A Furry Fete," because I want to have a little "party" for my cat, Armand, who will turn 19 in January 2008.
Your pictures of the cats are so adorable and your ideas are so cute and simple and easy to do. Thank you.

Martha, I'm so glad to see photos of your beautiful Himi's (although I much prefer to see them "au naturel)."

Martha, First of all I watch your show every morning.I was siting at our local hospital waiting on getting my blood work done for my surgery.I had to have cancer removed from my right ankle and I was looking thru your Sept issue picture of you at your desk and in the back ground was a beautiful cat.I have a cat PrettyGirl she is now 9 yrs old but she looks just like the cat in the back ground of your picture. Is he/she a Himalayan? My cat is a Calico.Which is spoiled rotten. I was just wanting to tell you your cats are very beautiful.Keep up the wondeful job ..I would love to start getting your magazines but I cant make up my mind of which one to get. They are all so good a very hard decision. But Thank you for your time. Rebecca

My daughters and I absolutely loved these pictures. Your cats are gorgeous. We can't wait to see more.

Hi, Martha !

Having a party for your pets is wonderful.

Friends of mine got a Himalayan and were searching for a name. They were delighted when I suggested 'Yeti'

Like most of the breed, she was as sweet as your cats.

Another dear friend invited me to one of her dogs' birthday party and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable events I've ever been part of. Within days, they lost him.

Treasure every moment these lovely creatures give you.

Carol

Hello Martha,
Your cats are so beautiful. I too have a Himalayan, his name is Blue (due to a vivid blue eye color). I got him to relieve the heartache I was experiencing after losing "Susie", my Siamese of 18 years. I had him shaved last summer and his hair grew back a different color. Do you know if that is normal? He is still beautiful, just different. Thank you for loving your cats and sharing them with us. Deborah
