Hi Martha, I finally figured out how to get onto your blog. I was so sorry to hear that your Mom died in November. You were fortunate to have her for so many years. I always enjoyed when she was on your show. My husband is Polish and I am Ukranian. We love the food she showed us how to prepare.
My Mom lives in Florida and I am disabled and cannot go see her. We talk weekly, sometimes more often when I can catch her home.
Your pouches are adorable. We have a Poodle-Yorkie mix who just turned 16 in November. She is deaf but healthy other than that. I so enjoy her company. We recently had subzero temps and she did not want to go out. She won't wear a jacket so she's just out and in quickly.
Keep up the super work. I enjoy your show daily and even watch the reruns. I tried your perfect pie crust and will never make anything else. You are great!
Love, Susan
Dear Martha,
I have just loved reading your blog entries, especially those related to your pets. Years ago your pet segment on TV inspired me to write a story about a cockatoo living in the North (crazy though it seems, it is based on an actual cockatoo in Yellowknife, NT). Though not yet published, in spite of making 2 rounds at a publishing company here in Canada, I did move on to illustrate for 6 magazines. My rescued Husky/Shepherd, Shadow, Russian cats, Smokey and Smudge( we lived in Moscow for two years) and our guinea pig, Button continue to be a source of inspiration for me. Thank you for your work, it is a constant source of inspiration.
Sincerely,
Catherine M. Holmes

I remember Francesca from the front cover of Vanity Fair. I adore that breed of dog and the Pug, which is often confused with Francesca's type.

What a cute dog! And what a life! Martha - have you ever thought of having a show on cooking for people with altered tastes due to cancer?
