As I announced on my television show on Thursday, my dear Mother, Big Martha, as we fondly call her, suffered a stroke. My Mom recently turned 93 and although her body was slowing her down, her mind remained sharp as a tack. She is in the hospital receiving really fine care and has been surrounded by family members and dear friends. We are all hoping for a speedy recovery so that she can get back to the life that she loves. I want to thank all of you who have sent best wishes and I will keep you informed of her progress.

hope your mother does well. you are in my thoughts here in oklahoma. it is hard to see an active lady be down.

I hope she gets well soon! I am sending many good wishes to her. Mums are precious and we need them no matter how old they are (or how old we are). By the way she doesn't look more than 70.

You are blessed to have such a wonderful role model in your life! They say that daughters grow up to be just like their mothers. I believe your beauty is an extension of this wonderful woman, your mother. I salute you both and may God stand by her side. She is in my thoughts and prayers. GOD BLESS

Martha, I also would like to wish your adorable Mom a speedy recovery!
My fondest memories of the original show was when she was cooking with you, or just on with you -I dropped everything to watch! Those times she was on were my absolute favorites!!!!
I will still try and make Perogies(sp?)like ya'll made those years ago even though I am far from being Polish!
Best wishes Big Martha in you recovery!

Hi Martha, I just read about your mom and I will say a special prayer for her and for you. Moms are wonderful......they are truly your best friends and I wish her all the best so she can get back to being "Big Martha" and being your best friend. Stay strong Martha as I know you will and know that we all are here for your mom and for you!

Big Martha (which I think is so cute, b/c she's so petite) radiates a positive attitude toward life and everything she does woth it. I would only think that she would do the same with her recovery. She really is a role model for us all.
