Laura Plimpton                 Eliad Laskin

Let’s face it.  I do have a very busy schedule and you may be wondering how I have the time to write my daily postings on my blog.  Thankfully, I am not alone in that department because my executive assistant and wonderful photographer, Eliad Laskin, and my sister, Laura Plimpton are standing by as my editors.  Eliad is extremely talented in all aspects of Web related processes and knows my extensive photo archives intimately – he actually scanned and organized most of them.  Laura has worked in many aspects of my business, from the early catering days to the cooking seminars.

She went on to write my nationally syndicated radio show, Ask Martha, for many years and has done numerous other projects for my company.  I can’t think of anyone better who can capture my voice as I report to her.  I hope you will all log in and enjoy!

Thanks for letting us meet some of your talented people.

I have often wondered how many people you have on staff at your Home. I would love to meet some of them too.

Carolyn

Dear Martha,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Martha, sister Laura, executive assistant Eliad (and company) for sharing your incredible (and diverse) talents in collectively creating and contributing to this/Martha's wonderful Blog!

Just when the sparking creative neurons have subsided (just a little) after reading my "Martha Stewart Living" (or an online MarthaStewart.Com feature), they are wildly and excitedly sparking away once again as I read (and experience) this wonderful Blog. (Oh, if only one was able experience the scent of the beautifully photographed flowers and/or the aroma of the brined roasted turkey, baked goods and other culinary delights, our online experience would definitely be pure Nirvana!)

It is wonderful (and a thrill every day) to be constantly surrounded by so many kindred sprits and creative geniuses. Thank you once again!

Best,
Bill

Hi Martha; Laura and Eliad too.
What kind of scanner do you have that Eliad has already scanned most of your pictures? Can I borrow it? I don't think I will ever finish scanning mine; it is quite an undertaking! I have to say everyone is doing a great job or I would not be here checking things out everyday. Trish

Hello very nice Blog first time I been to one but very nice. How would I start a blog? I am on a fix income so I have to be very careful with my money. I started selling Avon last year and it give me a little extra income. I am very Thankful to God for what I have cause I know there some people that don't even have what I have. Thank you so much for your help on how to make things. Sincerely Debbra

Congratulations to all the individuals involved in making this blog so great. Everything from the picture of a brick to the picture of Kevin in a helicopter appears so simple yet makes us feel so special. The story line not only is educational but fun to follow along with the pictures. Thank you for considering us with your blogging.

Martha, you have inspird me to record some of the fun times that we have at home together.

My goodness laura certainly resembles martha. I suppose you are asked that daily oh Martha (really laura ) I just love your column now if they did say that to laura they would be right!! Okay I have in the oven a White chocolate sweet potato cake the picture from this web site looks so yummy I printed the recipe back in 2005 and now just now I prepared it for the first time also I did not have brandy as the recipe called for so i used bourbon and I do not have macadamia nuts so i used pecans I suppose I created my own recipe from all the changes I made

The nearly translucent layers just looked so creamy and dreamy in the photo

I actually don't think I will use the heavy cream and white chocolate frosting as the calorie count and fat count is way too rich for my blood really too rich for my blood now I am thinking about cheating and purchasing a prepared frosting too bad the local bakeries don't sell frosting by the pound

NowI shall go to the video store and a copy of the Corn Dog man

Glad to have found your blog, Martha! How DO you sleep? :)

Dear Martha,

I really enjoy you and your show and It is nice to meet some of the people behind the scenes.
Keep up the good work and enjoy life..... Merry Christmas!!!!

Thanks for letting us know how you manage your blog. Your "voice" is very clear and consistent in the blog entries. I like that.

I for one have always, enjoyed the way , and how you do all the things you do. You do amaze me, but I know from what you have said on your MSL , you do not "SLEEP" , right.. Love all you do, Happy Holidays. Dolores

Hello Martha, This is my 1st viit to your blog. On today's show you showed your birth certificate, Baptismal Certificate, etc. Question: I was born in Jersey City and was delivered by Dr.J.N.Connell at the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital on Feb. 3, 1941. I was babtized at St. Nicholas Church but think I saw St. Anne's on your certificate. I went to St. Anne's school on Congress St. taking a bus from Manhattan Ave. Where did you live when you were born in Jersey City? What year were you born? Cheers, Carol

I well remember Laura and family from the '98 Holiday issue of MSL.

Martha, I think it's great when you showcase those many talented people who work behind the scenes to help you "keep all the balls in the air." Quite a juggling act, I'm sure.

It is fun to check into your blog and follow along with your rich and varied daily experiences.

I was so shocked to learn of your mom's passing. I watch nearly every day and missed your announcement. I realize that it was because I was attending my own mom's funeral that day. My prayers are with you as we share these difficult times together.

Martha, I loved seeing your Mothers items she kept of her kids.I kept my 4 kids birth certificates, first baby dress, pictures, and school report cards. I gave each child (now adults)a box for Christmas and they are going to make a shadowbox featuring their items. I think that makes a great memory .

I am so glad you started to blog! Now there are even more places to find all your cool info. I am a blog addict, and now you are part of my blogroll. Thanks to you Martha, and your staff!

Martha,
I just heard about your mother. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. I lost my mother last year and can tell you it is not only a time to grieve, but a time to rejoice in her life. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Christy

Seeing you going over the contents inside the envelope your mother left you brought me to tears. My son will be twenty one on December 8; and I have been going through his pictures and the memorabilia that I have saved over the years to pick out a few selected items to give to him on his birthday. I can just imagine how your mom felt when she put those things in the envelopes for you and your five siblings.

Martha,

I've been away for the past week, and of course upon my return, turned on the tv to watch your show first thing this morning.

I was saddened to hear of your recent loss. Your mother was a wonderful person and it was lovely to see her often on the show. I wish to offer my condolences and that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. God Bless!

Martha,
I really enjoy reading your blog daily and looking forward to seeing what is new in your life.
Thanks for sharing your life with us.

Go Mom!! You're doing a great job.

So cool-I love coming to this blog-It is as though I get to travel somewhere amazing and interesting- plus fun! Fantastic photos and great descriptions!

Hi Laura and Eliad, It is so nice to meet the two of you. You are doing a phenomenal job of editing and posting this fantastic blog for Martha. I visit this blog daily and enjoy each and every posting. I hope we will learn more about the two of you as time goes by. Thanks again for sharing, Martha. Jan

I have watched your show for years and have loved every minute of them. When i worked midnights, as a police dispatcher, i would record your shows so that i could watch them later in the day. You have such great ideas and i have always loved when you would visit other places to show how things worked or grew. I am so sorry to hear of the loss your wonderful mother. She has been a loved member of you show and will be missed. My kids have teased me for years because i enjoy your show so much. Keep it up and remember we love MARTHA STEWART.

That's okay, Martha, I sort of figured you had some help with this blog, and I still think you're Superwoman!

Great job, all of you.

The family resemblance is powerful. You and your sister look so much alike. How wonderful to have her help with your blog. I can't imagine with all you do that you do it all. You always have the right people around you. I admire you so much. Keep up the wonderful work you do to keep us on top.

I saw the picture first before reading and I thought, WOW that woman looks just like Martha!!!! They could be sisters! And then I read that in fact you are sisters. LOL! :-)

I love your blog. ♥

welcome to blogland all! I have recently started bloggin about four months ago as a way to talk to the people who buy my products. It is always nice to get feedback from anyone. Martha you and your sister look soo alike, it is nice that she can join you in this adventure of blogging. I enjoy your show very much and hope that in the future we could do a craft project together!
Happy Blogging!

Martha,
I was so sorry to hear about you
loosing your mother. I always enjoyed seeing her on your show.
So glad she lived so long, but I know from experience they can never live long enough.
Have a blessed Christmas
Ellen from Michigan

I want to say how sorry I am about your Mother's death. We will all miss her.
One time you had her on TV and you used black and white photos of her for her birthday and put those images on various things.
At that time my Mother was very ill and at the end of her life.
I took 4 black and white photos of my Mom and made 3 individual scrapbooks for each of my brothers using the photos of her young and happy.
In between the pictures I wrote about all of her positive and creative qualites.
It was a positive way to keep positive and help my brothers stay positive as well.
She was a portrait artist, marvelous cook, creative handiwoman and inspiring and practical woman. She died last July.I miss her daily,

Thanks for respecting your Mother so much too.

Martha,

I am saddened to learn of the passing of your mother. She was always a true delight whenever she appeared on your shows, and will be greatly missed by all.

Hi Martha!

I really enjoyed your shimmery acorn-ornaments craft segment and the acorn necklace. Plus the mushroom stool from a few episodes ago. Also loved the teas from the New York store! Your show brings a huge smile to my face. I enjoy it so much. Love you and your animals!

if i had someone to help me blog, i'd do that for sure! my life is a lot of work, i can only imagine what yours is like! :)

Martha -

I'm truly sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I have been a huge fan of yours for a very long time and it's great to see your courage and passion to continue to inspire all of us who admire you. Martha keep the faith and continue to do what you do best teach, inspire, and create.

I know what a BLOG is, but from where does the word "BLOG" come?

Hi Martha,
Big fan! You are the first thing I turn to when I come home after long day at work. Yeah for DVR's. The special envelope from your mom was just the best. I started writing letters to my son when he was born. Began looking for everything that pertained to him and placed it in a special folder. Your mom will be missed, she was a joy!

Hello Martha, happy holidays, to you and your staff. Thank you for the opportunity to meet your mother, on the show. What a Gem! I really want to thank your daughter for the light bulb moment, when I saw her on Oprah. She was talking about the process she goes through, monthly to create a life/baby. Oprah asked her how she does it. She looked at Oprah, without missing a beat, and said IT'S A JOB! That was my light bulb moment. I have cancer, and your daughter is right, IT'S A JOB. At that moment, I said ya, IT'S A JOB, and I am the best worker I know. So, I always do my best. especially at work. Those 3 little words, set the stage re: my attitude about my cancer. Your daughter, is a sensible and strong woman, and I look forward to seeing her child on your show. to be continued. Love and Light

Hello, Martha
Here in Israel we see your show about a year and a half later, so I was quite shocked to learn of your Mom's death. We are all little kids when it comes to our parents, and no matter how old we are, the loss is great.
I trust your personal strength will see you through.

All the best to you and your family.

Martha, I am so glad you are blogging.

(Eliad, can you add photo credits? It would be nice to know who takes the photos:)

I tape your shows and just heard about your Mom. I really enjoyed her on your shows and I know that you and your family will miss her terribly. My thoughts a with you during this difficult time

Hi, Martha,

I'm so glad to see your blog.

I've attended a seminar in Mac 05, and one of the general principles I've learned is to get a "Master" in something I want to pursue in life. Something I'm passionate about. In fact, I don't know what to pick for the past 33 years. Until, one day I saw your show, it's on 10am, Singapore time (GMT) while I was resting at home after giving birth to my second baby in April 07. It is impossible for me to hang around at home during working days, at this hour because I work from 9am to 5pm. I have no chance to watch your show, at all.

You have given me the courage to reach out to what I want in life.

Today, I log into your web for the first time, and its open my eyes. I read more about your past in wikipedia and I have clarity that this is something and someone I want to "Master". Even though, physically, you are very far away from me. We have lots of similarity in life; I’m connected with what you have add value to the world.

First thing I decide is to read and understand more about you. I have called up to major book store in KL, to look for your books, and I could not find any of your books here in KL, Malaysia. I will ask my friend from US to bring me my first choice of your book, which is "The Martha Rules". Looking forward to get the book on Jan 08 and I will learn more about you.

Glad to have you in my life and Merry Christmas.

Hello Martha,
I am sitting on my living room floor, removing seeds from sugar snap pea pods. Last spring, I bought seeds, instead of seedlings, to save money. I got so few seeds, for $1.49, I decided to let some of my harvest go to seed, and collect them before they get lost in the garden. I have many vegetable seeds, ready for next spring. Off one collard plant, i got enough seeds to grow 2 full acres. No need for 2 acres of collards, but you get the POINT! Food for thought! consider doing a show on collecting seeds. It's A Good Thing!
ps: Your calm personality, is so relaxing/that is what makes you Martha.

take care
Karen

Dear Martha, Laura, Eliad (and staff),

An added "PS," please, to my one entry above: I LOVE the wonderful, colorful and creatively innovative rotating "The Martha Blog" home page banner graphics and color variations! I just discovered this moments ago and decided to reload/refresh the home page multiple times just to scroll through and see/experience all of them ... what fun!! I especially love the pecan colored "faux bois" background (very similar to my luxurious Martha Stewart Collection "Faux Bois" 400 thread count, 100% cotton sheets) with the two sounding reindeer.

Because you've inspired me (once again), I'm going to be a little creative and scan one of my Martha Stewart Collection "Faux Bois" sheets, lighten it via my Adobe PhotoShop software, and create a customized background wallpaper for my emails and other projects. "Happy Holidays, Martha and Staff!"

Best,
Bill (aka: The "Leaf-Peeping Gnome" and now, "Faux Bois Aficionado Bill")

Dear Sweet Martha,
Oh how we loved your Mother! She was full of grace and had a wonderful sense of humor. How wonderful that you had her with you for 93 years. I remember the shows that she was on and they were favorites. And I remember you asking her to do a cook book. All of her fans, would love to see a book with her recipes and or a CD set much like you made for family members. We too consider ourselves part of the family. Your tribute to Mother, was a wonderful celebration of her life and I am sure the family has so many memories to share with each other. My deepest sympathy in your loss. Dee

With sincere condolences to you, Martha, and all your family on the loss of your Mother, a great lady. Your Mom's laughter brought back sweet memories of wonderful times with my own Mother, as did her little quips and gentle reminders of the proper way to do things!

Thank you so much to both of you for keeping the good traditions alive and well. I grew up with similar traditions, which were very important to my parents and family. Christmas was always very special. After my Mother died, we returned each year to continue the traditions with Daddy. However, with the passing of my father at 96 years of age, all my tangible past in Ireland vanished overnight on the auction block and I felt adrift and more than a little lost without the home base I had for over fifty years.

They are all gone now, those strong, gentle people who forged us into the people we are today. Over the years your shows reminded me of those special times with my own family and so many of the lessons on how to live a good life that they had passed down to me. They helped us live through the aftermath of 9-11, when I had no Mammy or Daddy or Aunt or Uncle to call for advice. Your shows with your Mom, family, friends and great food brought comfort to our house and made our home feel safe again.

We could all see that your Mother was so very, very proud of you, Martha, her beautiful daughter. Keep courage.

Wishing you all the wonderful gifts of the Christmas season.

Martha,
I saw your daughter on Oprah talking about trying to have a baby. I sure hope that it happens for her soon and makes you a proud grandmother!
if not, then adoption is always a wonderful way to go. Either way I think she will be a wonderful mother and you will be a terrific grandmother!
Merry Christmas and keep up the tv show I watch everyday!

something happened to this video clip at 3:19 .. and thanks for all the wonderful advice you give us on here its wonderful..

Dear Martha and Daughter,

On Dec. 1st, I posted a blog re: How seeing your daughter on Oprah, helped me deal with my cancer. She said It's a Job. The moment the show ended, I loaded my tote, with all med's, info, and everything I needed to work on beating the cancer. From that moment forward, I was focused, alert and my best advocate. Over joyed to say that after 4 mo. of treatments, I am Cancer Free. Got the news today, but opted to get 2 more treatments, I was at stage 3 4 mo. ago, with multiple sites. This hard worker wants to make sure the job is complete. So glad my parents taught me the meaning of Hard Work. So glad your daughter reminded me of that.

take care/dear Ladies

I love the brown limoges (large) coffee cups used for cappuccino that were pictured about a week or so ago. Can someone please tell me the name of the manufacturer and the pattern name?

Dear Martha,
I enjoy your show and thank you for all you do to help others. Yor are an inspiration to all of us
Thank you,

Hello Martha,

I love watching your show, and have been everyday, for 6 mo. You are almost perfect at everything you do. I study body language as a hobby. Noticed you have a need to have everything, and everyone around you be perfect. Example: todays show, the young man, was adding stuff to the top of dish. You had to fix a few of the toppings, Why? another day, you got upset, because the staff put a sm. nut grater, which did not work for your guest. You called it a nasty little grater. Then the staff runs in with a very lg. grater. Martha, I want you to really enjoy every minute of your life. The world is not perfect, and it is what it is. When my only child was young, I tried to be perfect. It backfired on me, he likes to make a mess, and cleans it up, when he feels like. Looking back, I was a nagging mother, trying to be perfect. You are very close to perfect. Would you consider a lighter attitude, when things are not perfect? I enjoy the kitchen staff, when they bring you something at the last minute. Maybe it is because you are on a tight time schedule, that you seem upset when delays happen. Make a few mistakes Martha, then we all won't try to be PERFECT.

Love your show
karen

Thank you to your sister the Blog is great it allows us to get closer to you know what you do and like and what you do. I love hearing and learning what you do everyday of your life.

Thanks,
Leticia

Hi Martha,
Sorry to hear about Paw Paw's kidney troubles. I had three pussy cats that lived to be 23 years old each, two were sisters and one was a daughter of one of the sisters. They all lived to be so old that they eventually developed kidney problems as well. My vet taught me how to give the subcutaneous fluids with an iv rigging (just in the neck under the skin) that really helped them out a lot. They were such dear sweet little friends that I could tell when they were becoming dehydrated and I would call them over to the table where I had the iv stuff set up, they would come willingly and let me hold them while I gave them their fluids. They knew that it made them feel better, at first I was very squeemish doing it but when I saw the difference it made in them I did it readily. I started doing it when they were about 17 to 18 years of age so it extended their time with me by five or six years. They were the best little cats and I miss them greatly.
It is so nice to see how much you love all your animals, I would love to be able to visit you one day and go for a walk with Paw Paw and all your other critters. I love your donkeys and your cats, they all look like they are having the time of their lives. I very much admire you Martha, you make the world a nice place and that.... is a good thing. Keep being you.
Best regards,
Carrol Joy

Martha, I'm glad you have such talented help for your blog. I've been amazed at how you have always posted the comments. I know they are moderated and approved by you and that takes time. Your sister is beautiful and extremely talented as are you. Eliad must be some photographer and organizer because you must have some million or more photos. Anyway they are lucky to have such a grand employer. Nan
