Come meet my nephew, Christopher Herbert!

Last Thursday, I had the wonderful pleasure of attending the recital of my nephew, Christopher Herbert.  Chris, a very gifted musician, has a rich and powerful baritone voice and is a performer of opera and musical theater based in New York City.  It’s been a real pleasure for me to see him grow from newborn to young man and to witness so many of his amazing achievements.  I just know that he will go far with his musical pursuits.  You can learn more about him at www.christopherdylanherbert.com.

Enjoy, as I do! This is Engenho Novo as performed by Christopher Herbert.

Here I am with Chris and my sister Laura, who is also Chris’s mother. _o7j2366

So handsome!

Hi Martha & Laura, Thank you so much for this wonderful blog about Christopher. It has been so nice to be brought up to date about all three of Laura's talented kids. Laura, you must be so proud of your children as I am sure Martha is, also. I also enjoy listening to Christopher every week day @ 9AM during your craft shows on DIY network. He has such a pleasant voice both speaking and singing on The Martha Stewart Show. Thanks so much for sharing. Jan

Congratulations to Chris! I can see the proudness in your smile and his mother's. Very handsome young man who has a gift of song.

Sounded great. He really looks alot like Big Martha.

He's a babe, Martha!

What a handsome, talented, exuberant young man! How proud you all must be.
My first thought, also, was how much her looks like Big Martha! Thanks for sharing.

BRAVO!
What a beautiful voice.
It takes alot of hard work, and dedication to become such an accomplished opera performer.
Congratulations Chris...

Just the other day I came across a photo of Christopher in a 1993 Martha Stewart Living magazine and he was washing your car, Laura. The caption read “Christopher would really rather be playing Beethoven etudes on the viola than washing his mother’s car.” You must be as proud of him as I know you are of all of your children and I can see that Martha is too. He has a wonderful voice and it was fun listening to Engenho Novo and watching him “perform”. The video was great! Someone mentioned that he reminds them of Big Martha. I always thought that about Charlie when he was younger. Have a great day all and a special thanks for today’s blog. Trish

Laura,
What can I say your smiles say it all. Well done.

This is great, Martha!!!!!!!!!

Martha,
You, your sister Laura---your whole family---must be so proud of Christopher's amazing achievements. Such a gifted musician! I remember him singing to your Mom. By the way, thanks for the segment about your Mom on your show the other day. It is hard to go through a loved one's belongings but in a way also reassuring.
Thanks again.
Kathy

What a great voice! It's fun, too, to see the resemblance between you and your sister. By the way, Martha, you have worked from time to time with my brother (L. Becker Flowers, NYC). He's the one who grows heirloom roses in N.J. I like your blog. It's a great window on your life.

Amazing! Beautiful! I love it! The piano player was very good also! it's so good to hear positive words today when on the news we hear about all the bad! Just curious? Did you have a 16th birthday party for him? My daughter turns 16 in March and wants a formal party, I don't have a clue how to do that? Is there an episode of yours that shows a youthful formal or semi-formal party? Thanks for all your good an wholesome entertainment! Great blog!

Martha and Laura,
Christopher is incredibly talented. Thank you for sharing his recital with us.
I'm thinking he would be great as member of Simon Cowell's
Il Divo.
We all wish Christopher overwhelming success with his career.

It's reassuring to see that family events are still attended despite demanding schedules. Bravo Aunt Martha!

What a wonderful voice!! He is so handsome and there is no doubt, from his looks, that he and Sophie are siblings! Thanks for sharing...

Martha,
Thanks for having the wonderful dog segment on your show today. I watched it with my two dogs; they were happy to hear Sharkey and Francesca. I was glad to see the collapsible dog bowls, the high-tech gadgets for dogs, and the rescued dogs. I'm looking forward to watching the Westminster show. Enjoy it! Wish I could go, too.

Hi Martha, My computer won't let me listen but I'll never forget when Chris sang "Once Upon A Time" on your show. It made me cry because he had such deep feeling in his voice. And because of that I sobbed even harder all over again when your company used "Once Upon A Time" to accompany the tribute to your wonderful mother. How proud you all must be! Sniff! Sniff!

I am jealous because he speaks(sings) better Italian than I speak. My parents were born in Italy and I was here but never spoke italian that well or that fast. I wish I did. It's never too late. Anyway, my parents were here for 45 years and they still speak Italian (but also great English). I hope to come to your show one day. I asked for tickets a while back but then the day ended up not being good for me to go.

My husband and I have attended several Chicago Park concerts, and enjoy opera. I was delighted to hear your nephew perform on YouTube. Was he excellent! Maybe sometime he can perform in Chicago's Grant Park Music Festival. There is a summer schedule of outdoor orchestra and song.

Martha;
Thank you for such a special blog today. Christopher is so talented and so handsome. I can see the pride in everyones' face and also the love in your hearts.
Thank you also for a very special show today. I want to adopt all the dogs that you showed today. I have 5 dogs and they are all rescues except for 1 and Blaze was born here after her "father" jumped the fence to get to my Bear. Bear is now 14 years old and Blaze is 13. And no more accidents. They went to the vet as soon as Blaze was 5 months old. So again thank you for a great show and please continue with the pet shows. Maybe a cat show next.

Martha, what a GREAT performer!! Not only as a singer, but he's very theatrical as well... I love to sing; not professionally, but I love it. And I can only dream of singing one day along such a great artist. Congrats to you and to your beautiful sister!!

This video is wonderful, I am also a singer and am performing this piece on my senior recital in late April here in Northern Arizona. Thank you for the video.

WOW!!!!!!! HE HAS AN EXCELLENT VOICE. HE IS GOING PLACES. YOU MUST BE VERY PROUD OF HIM. I LOVE OPERA AND HAVE SEASON TICKETS TO THE ARIZONA OPERA. MAYBE SOME DAY I WILL SEE HIM PERFORMING THERE. THANK YOU, MARTHA, FOR SHARING HIM WITH US.
