UPDATE: Last night I had the pleasure of teaching Conan O'brien how to make some traditional Irish drinks (he was very fond of the drinking) and how to cook one of my Kirkland Signature hams with an Irish twist! I hope you were watching or have it recorded if you couldn't stay up late! Let me know what you thought.
This past Sunday, I had the honor of cutting the ribbon to officially open the 2008 Macy’s Flower Show. After the ribbon cutting, I went up to the eighth floor and signed many, many copies of my new books, “Martha Stewart Wedding Cakes” and “Martha Stewart Cookies.” This happens to be the 34th annual Macy’s Flower Show and has been dubbed “A Wonder of the World.” Each year the show is scheduled to run for the week before Easter and the week after and it is truly spectacular. The main floor is filled with millions of plants having brilliant foliage and stunning blooms. Robin Hall, the creative director at Macy’s explained that there are over thirty thousand different species of exotic trees and flowering plants from six continents. He told me that the plants get watered each evening and pruned, if necessary. After the first week, weary plants get swapped out for fresh ones. They must also maintain cool temperatures in the store to extend plant life. In addition to the show, Macy’s offers floral design seminars and other flower show events. You can find out more by visiting www.macys.com. I just love flower shows and the one at Macy’s never disappoints.
This is Macy's at Herald Square. This enormous store encompasses an entire New York City block!
Here I am arriving at Macy's with a small entourage.
The first floor of Macy's is brimming with plants and flowers - what lovely aromas!
This is a fantastic replica of the Bronx Botanical Garden meticulously constructed from a natural based resin.
The plants are so colorful and lush.
The new spring handbag collection is adorned by lovely spring blossoms
Robin Hall, the creative director at Macy's is handing me the scissors to cut the gorgeous orchid "ribbon" donated by 1-800-FLOWERS
This is the "Bouquet of the Day" - an amazing floral creation by master designer Jorge Cazzorla of Celebrate Flowers. A new bouquet is brought in every couple of days.
This is a fabulous, highly detailed reproduction of the historic Macy's building, created from organic plant materials by renowned artist Paul Busse.
Here I am at the book signing. Of course, there were plenty of paparazzi flashing their cameras!
I'm signing a copy of my new cookie book - I'm sure you will love baking from it!
This happy young lady is Alicia Phillips who came all the way from Kansas. She was so thrilled to meet me and has been an avid fan for most of her life!
Here's some of my Macy's bath collection.
Macy's has done an extraordinary job in displaying my collection - they've really captured my style.

What an absolutely wonderful event and an enormous undertaking for Macy's! So beautifully done and i wish i was there. Martha, you look so lovely amongst the flowers and at your book signing. Thank you for sharing the photos of these extraordinary floral arrangements.

Martha:
The flower show at Macy's looks fantastic! I hope I can make it in to the city before it ends.
I'm glad to know you are doing book signings for the Wedding Cake and Cookie books.
I've come to a few of your signings, most recently at Williams Sonoma in the Westchester Mall this past fall. I gave you a Christmas ornament I made for you and a Mass card for you Mom. I really miss seeing her on your show. I loved watching the two of you trade tips and joke around. It was always fun because we never knew what your Mom was going to say.
Please post on your blog if you have any more book signings coming up in our area.
Thanks!

Martha:)
You've done it again. Such beautiful flowers. And your pictures bring everything to life with such clarity. You make me wish I could have been there. I love the sculpture of the Bronx Botanical Garden. It seems to glow with a lovely cream color light.
Thank you for sharing such lovely pictures.

What a spectacular display of color, and I bet the fragrance of the blooms are just as sweet as the cookies in your books!
I've been craving a trip to the city (First one for my 8 month old) and I do believe THIS has sealed the deal for me!
Thanks!

I had such fun watching you on Conan's show and boy did your ham from Costco's look delicious! Your hair looked a little different; kind of turned up. I liked it. I'm off to watch the show with Nathan Lane now. Trish

I find you an extremely intelligent, gifted person who has managed to survive a great deal of adversity. I, at one time, owed your stock. How is it possible to obtain an autographed copy of your latest book?
Sincerely,

Hi Martha, I watched you on Conan last night and you did a magnificent job of handling silly old Conan. I think I am going to try your Irish whiskey and brown sugar glaze on my next Martha Stewart/Kirkland ham. It looked absolutely delicious! It's back to Costco for me. Hope your other new products will be available soon. Your new hairdo looked absolutely great! Also, was that your new suit you were wearing in the photos from your Vancouver trip? The only difference was that you were wearing the blouse and slacks. Thanks for sharing. Jan
