Sharkey had a little accident
UPDATE: In response to the TMZ.com article I would like to bring to light the fact that Sharkey is a cute little GIRL. Also, she is a very HAPPY dog that happens to be good at many different facial expressions!
I just love the way sisal carpeting looks throughout my homes, but just like any carpet, sisal does not fare well with spills, or the occasional pet ‘accident.’ Fortunately, I discovered a remarkable product that does a fantastic job of making those stains disappear. It’s called Host Dry Carpet Cleaner Shaker Pack. This all-natural product is made up of a balanced blend of moisture, detergent, and a bit of safe-to-use solvents. When needed, we just sprinkle the sawdust-like material over the stain and gently brush it in. Host goes to work, dissolving and absorbing the stain and any odor associated with it. After about an hour, you just vacuum it up and voila! – no more stain and no wet carpet! I’ve used Host Cleaner with great success and it’s good for all types of carpets. Plus, I love that it’s environmentally friendly.
Here’s the wonderful Host Dry Carpet Cleaner Dry Pack.
‘I’m so sorry – I didn’t mean to wet the carpet. Fortunately, there’s Host to the rescue.’
‘I’ll just sit here and wait until the vacuum comes and takes the stain away. I’ll feel so much better then.’

It's funny, just this morning while sopping up dog pee from the carpet I said to my husband "I wonder what Martha would do?". So, thank you for un-knowingly answering my question!
LOVE reading your blog. It's my favorite thing on the internet!

Sharkey, you are a star! You look appropriately apologetic and should be doing infomercials for this product. I'd go buy it right now if I had any carpeting in my house.

. . .great to know about this product, Martha.
Our dear 14-year-old pooch has *never* had an accident, but you never know. . .

Poor baby! I'm certain Sharkey is extremely comforted that her little accident is being taken care of by her very resourceful yet forgiving Mom. Thanks so much for sharing this amazing product. By the way, Sharkey's coat is what they call Fawn in the Frenchie world, right? And I hear that because of your baby Francesca the Brindle Frenchies have surged popularity.
Great posting, as always!

Hi Martha, When I first read the blog title, I was almost afraid to go to this blog. I thought maybe she had been hurt while chasing the squirrels or herding the donkeys. Thank God she only "piddled"! She looks so guilty in the photos. I sure could have used that fantastic product all the years I raised my dogs. I've had 6 dogs in the past 40 years and my latest was the most challenging. When I get another dog as a companion for him, I will definitely get Host Dry Carpet Cleaner Shaker Pack. Thanks for this valuable information and for sharing. I remember hearing you talk about Host on Sirius Radio 112 and am glad you did a blog about it. Jan

Martha I was so relieved when I saw it was that type of accident, I thought Sharkey was hurt. The title of your blog gave me heart failure, don't scare us like that!!!
Poor Sharkey, looks so sad, I'm sure she didn't mean it.

Thank you for sharing an everyday
bit of life with your blog readers. As absurd as it sounds "One has the perception that celebrity dogs are FREE from nature caused accidents".
Ps -- Jesse and Cleo want to THANK Sharkey for going public with this very PRIVATE issue!

Ahhhhhh...just look at that face! Such remorse. I hope you weren't too hard on her. I'll have to see if I can get that product here in Canada.

Hi Martha! thanks for this blog--i've tried everything to lift these kinds of stains. where can i find this product?
Posted by: Katherine | July 21, 2008 at 08:34 AM
Hello, Martha....I'll definitely look for this product here in Canada. Poor Sharkey! It's okay. We have dogs and cats and our 15 year-old male cat has a terrible habit of pooping (only poop, thankfully) outside the clean, multiple litter boxes. Very frustrating! Good to know this product is environmentally safe. Thank you, Martha.

Sharkey is a sweetie! She looks so apologetic for what she did and I'm thinking she might be thinking, "You're not going to write about that in your blog are you! I'm so embarrassed!" It's okay Sharkey, we still love you and we know your mommy does too!
I wish I knew about Host when my dogs were around. I had one little bad boy who had way too many accidents. Trish

I find baking soda works very nicely too. When we camp in our RV, sometimes are little kids have accidents during the night. I just get out the baking soda, apply a nice amount. When we get home I just run the vaccume over it, and the stain is out, no smell at all. It also works on throw up quite nicely.

This is great news. We've had beautiful sisal rugs for years, and we've never had any accidents, even though the most beautiful rug is in the dining room. But our Shiba Inu, Keela, is getting on in years, so she now throws up occasionally, most recently on the dining room rug. Then our freind's little dog decided to relieve herself on the rug during a recent visit. The rug's days in our house seemed doomed, but now there's hope! Thanks for the tip! Perfect timing, too!

Thank you, thank you for your recommendation! Our bedroom carpet is a mess lately from all the cat hairball stains. It seems like my old stain removers aren't working on our girl's latest messes. I'm hoping that this will work for those stains. I have printed out the nearby locations and I will be buying that product right away. Thanks again, I can't wait to use it.

Poor Sharkey...she looks so dutiful sitting there until all is well again. Thanks for the tip on the product. It sounds better than soaking with something like "Nature's Miracle" and I will definitely look for it. I can't wait to see pictures of Iceland! I've been happy to see your summer session shows that you taped. I was missing new shows! Thanks for all that you do.

Martha,
I'm with other bloggers, got nervous when I read this title, Sharkey's accident! Thinking oh-oh, something went wrong! Whew! Glad to hear it was "that" kind of accident!
We have 4 Yorkshire's and have used "Nature's Miracle" over the years but this Host sounds great! I will definately get this product! Does it only work on "wet" spots? How about dry ones that you missed?
Sharkey's photo says it all...sorry Mom plus putting me on the Web for all to see? Geezh! LOL She's a sweetie!
Thanks!

Having had dogs for many years, I'm glad there's a good product out there for these situations......I'll keep it in mind when I get my next puppy! Sharkey has that sorry & concerned look. I'm sure when all was cleaned up, she went back to her adventureous self!

What exactly is sisal? I know a nice sisal rug when I see one, but I could not for the life of me tell you what it's made of.
