On Homegrown, Sandy Gluck from Everyday Food joined Andrew once again to discuss and answer questions about gardening and food, as well as their favorite heirloom tomatoes. These sometimes clumpy treats come in an array of colors and make for a great tomato sandwich. An heirloom tomato is one that has been cultivated for at least 50 years.
Sandy's favorite is Purple Cherokee, while Andrew likes the pale yellow Big Blonde and his favorite, Sun Gold, is a tangerine-colored cherry variety that's really sweet.

We all look forward to vacations, but I don't know anyone who looks forward to packing! Martha has lots of tips but there's always more to learn!
As I prepare for a 12-day trip to South America, I'm trading in my makeup bag for my first-aid kit. This trip is so different from my past vacations. I need to fit everything into a tiny suitcase, and I'm not quite sure where to begin.

It may be a bit unconventional, but changing the colors of your hydrangeas is not out of the question. One of our Homegrown listeners called in and asked just that question: How do you change blue-green hydrangeas into that perfect shade of pink.

Are you familiar with the drink dark and stormy?
It's made with ginger beer and dark rum, and it seemed like the perfect combo for a marinade. Turns out it was great for pork butt, an unctuous cut of meat, for this week's Sandwich of the Day.
And to top it off, a coleslaw made (thanks to listener Sandy Lyke of Charlotte, North Carolina) with Duke's mayo. Packed in rolls, it's a perfect sandwich. All you need is a side of chips.

If you have a dog with long, floppy ears like mine, you know how hard it can be to keep them clean.
Spaniels, like my English Springers, have long-haired, drop ears. Other breeds with drop leathers include Bloodhounds, Basset Hounds and Cocker Spaniels.

The final selection for "Living Today's" summer book club is "Rosewater and Soda Bread."
It's a novel by Marsha Mehran that tells a fascinating story of three sisters from Iran who escaped during the revolution in the late 1970s and settled in a small Irish town.
This novel is the follow-up to Mehran's first book, "Pomegranate Soup," and involves intrigue, romance, and a touch of a mystic mystery.

Chef Franck Deletrain of Cafe Centro in New York City has been serving a peach and plum menu all month, so when he joined us for Fast and Fancy, he brought plenty of ripe stone fruit with him. He didn't stop at the basics either: We got to test some doughnut peaches, pluots, and several types of nectarines. If you enjoy stone fruits as much as I do, check out Martha's stone fruit glossary.I have always loved making simple summer desserts like grilled peaches or plum crumble, but I never thought about moving these sweet fruits over to the savory side of the menu. Chef Deletrain convinced me with his yummy recipes!
