During our live broadcasts in Napa Valley, we had the good fortune to feature on Living Today a husband-and-wife team of beekeepers from Marshalls Farm.
Helene and Spencer Marshall taught us to appreciate the various types of honey created in micro-climates that produce everything from Lavender Infused Honey to Bay Area Eucalyptus Honey.

Our guests from Marshalls Honey Farm.
Natural Honey from their farm.
The Marshalls said that honey has the variance and wide-ranging spectrum that wines possess. Their handcrafted honeys are spectacular. I also shared with the Marshalls my ongoing research on bees and beekeeping. After our interview they whisked me away to Thomas Keller's personal garden!
His acclaimed French Laundry restaurant in Yountville serves honey from the Marshalls bees. This is French Laundry
I got to sample honey fresh from the combs and munched on an actual honeycomb. The honey was ethereal; light in flavor and absolutely delicious.
My visit with the bees -- I'm on the right.
I must have an affinity for bees since I always invite them to my hummingbird feeders in my Texas garden. I was able to go right up to the bee hives without any protection. I kept calm, respected the bees and left the beehive without a sting!
Although I don't recommend this to everyone, I did have a one-of-a-kind experience communing with the bees that provide the honey for Thomas Keller's French Laundry! It brings home the fact that there is an intimate connection between bees and the flowers, fruits, and vegetables in our gardens; that we need to care for and respect bees.

Is there any truth to the rumor that honeybees are disappearing and no one knows why. I often hear about that and it worries me but I don’t know how much truth there is to it.
