When Brent Ridge (that’s Dr. Brent to all the long-time listeners!) decided to renovate his apartment, he wanted style and comfort but he also wanted to stick to a budget and make eco-friendly choices whenever possible. That’s a tall order, but he made it happen. One of his inspirations throughout the process was ApartmentTherapy.com, the design website founded by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan.
Brent and Maxwell joined us on Whole Living today for the first of four segments on home design, bringing expert advice and first-hand experience to answer the questions of where to start and how to see it through.
This time they focused on tips for finding hidden potential in a fixer-upper space, getting organized to do renovations, making eco-friendly choices in materials, and finding the right contractor. On the next three Mondays we’ll talk about finding the right style, making sure rooms are comfortable and functional as well as stylish, and we’ll even get tips on entertaining at home, so stay tuned and email YOUR home design questions or success stories to us at Whole Living.
Now that you’ve heard all about it on the show, check out our slideshow to see Brent Ridge’s home before, during, and after its transformation from a typically cramped city apartment to a soothing, stylish oasis.

LOOOOVE this reno!! Especially the bathroom. I'm currently working on a concept board for a bathroom and I am also using penny round tiles for the walls. Thanks for letting me know about your site.
