I can name 10 amazing bakeries in Manhattan at the drop of a Philip Treacy hat, but when asked to recommend a place outside New York City for cakes and confections to serve as favors, I often draw a blank. One of our stylists recently introduced me to San Francisco’s Miette Pâtisserie & Confiserie (I liked them so much I used their adorable macaroons in a television shoot), but my list of non-New-York cake shops is still shamefully short. So readers, I need your help: Where do you live? And where do you go to buy delectable, top-notch baked goods?

Mani's Bakery (Santa Monica & Mid-Wilshire) - Lots of sugar-free and gluten-free options, that taste amazingly great.

I used to work at a bakery in Montclair in Oakland, California and I LOVE their cakes above all other cakes I've tried. They are generally lighter and less sweet than many cakes. Sadly, I don't live in California anymore so I can't use them for my wedding! But if lived there again, it would be a no-brainer! P.S. The cakes are also gorgeous!

My granddaughter took me to a wonderful pastry shop, Natasha's Mulberry and Mott, near my home in Kansas City. Their pastries and cakes took me back to my childhood, made from scratch with care and love like my mother made for our family. The sugar flowers on their wedding cakes look like they came from my own garden.
