If you grew up in Ohio, chances are you love peanut-buttery buckeyes. And if you're from Maine, we know you've had your fair share of the best lobster around. Whether your wedding is in your hometown or just a place you've always been drawn to, why not let your wedding guests in on your love of all things local. Salt-water taffy from New Jersey will make waves with guests long after they've left the shore. And preserves made from Georgia peaches will leave them with a sweet taste of Southern hospitality. Regional favors are a great way to infuse your reception with a bit of personality, and they can be inexpensive, too. For more inspiration, pick up our Winter issue of Martha Stewart Weddings (on newsstands December 24).

Darcy,
Washington, District of Columbia has been a place I've always been drawn to, question is, what are all things local in The District, and, of course in terms of having a Spring wedding?

I would love to hear what people think is local to Alaska, besides seafood since it wouldn't travel well.

DC and Spring - The first thing I think of is cherry blossom trees. Maybe you could work that in, either as a decoration or do cherry flavored favors?

I agree with Tk, cherry blossoms are a beautiful theme to work into your decorations or favors and it fits with your DC region.

I so love bringing in ones national and region cuisine in to a wedding or rehearsal dinner.
My next bride is from lower New Jersey and the Groom From Maine.
The buffet at the rehearsal dinner will be a competition of the
Mid Atlantic Crab
VS
the Maine Lobster!
It’s going to be great culinary fun.

I have a question regarding the current issue of MS Weddings. They used Audrey Hepburn stamps for the Today Show wedding invitations...where do you find these amazing vintage stamps and how do you find them in the apporiate postage amount?

Do you have any suggestions for snacks from Massachusetts/Boston that we could include in our hotel welcome baskets?
Posted by: suzy | December 20, 2007 at 12:18 PM
For Kelly T, your local post office carries most of the stamps that are featured in their store fronts. I am a huge movie fan so I go just to get a different actor/actress when I re-new my supply.
And a suggestion for suzy re: Boston welcome baskets is the candy Boston Baked Beans. You can buy a large bag & separate them into smaller ziplot bags (from craft stores) & make a bag topper with a cute poem.
as always,

I was actually slightly disappointed with this article. It said something like peanuts for a VA wedding. I showed it to my FI and it raised our eyebrows ("Huh???") We've lived in Northern VA for 2 years now (Maryland before that) and have never heard of this so-called regional food. What other DC or VA favors could we use? Our wedding is in the summer so the cherry blossom theme won't work (they're only usually out for a few weeks in the Spring). We are getting the "Virginia is for Lovers" bumper stickers for our OOT bags. Any other ideas?

Does anyone know the name of the font that was used on the Georgia preserves. I am having trouble finding it. Thanks.
