Thanks for your notes! We ended up with the Kate Spade invitations mentioned earlier, but with a twist.
Black flowers, white card, bright yellow inner envelope lining. (And you guys were right, the groom was relieved that pink was not involved.) As an eco-friendly nod, we decided to forgo the enclosures--no reception cards, no response cards. Instead we're printing all of the information on the single piece of paper, in a single envelope. It's absolutely striking. The response from our sales person included the slightest of sighs, but she went ahead with our wishes. Am I missing something? Why are all of these papers necessary anyway?
**UPDATE: We've only got a guest list of 45 so it'll be pretty easy for us to manage the RSVP process through our wedding website (at Wedding Wire). Plus, we our wedding invitation wording was shorter than average. We're hosting the wedding so we did not include our parents' full names; instead we said, "together with their parents CHARITY ANN CURLEY and PAUL GERARD MATHEWS request the pleasure of your company..." We didn't do it to save space but it did turn out that way. And the proof should come back tomorrow so we'll see. Maybe I'll decide to go with all of the enclosures after all...but I doubt it.
At any rate, they look like this: black and white flowers...
And a pop of yellow for the envelope (ignore the lobster--but appreciate it's deliciousness another time)...

Perfect! I knew mentioning pink would work ;)
Also, I really like the idea of printing everything on one piece of paper...it's eco-friendly, easy on the budget, and it's convenient for guests, who don't have to worry about losing one of the little enclosures. Great choice!

seriously - what's with inner envelopes?! i'm designing my invitation now and i really don't want them! it's more paper, more cost, and of course more postage cost! now days we can get away with that - right?

They look great! Are you going to manage RSVPs without a response card? I really want to do this and have had a few ideas like setting up a password protected website or just have them call us. However, this is great for our friends, but I'm worried about my parents and their friends -- do you think we can pull it off or does anyone have other suggestions on how to handle it?

I would be worried about the invitation looking too busy if you printed everything on it. I have to have a separate card, but I do hate the inner envelope thing. We're actually doing a fabric backed booklet type thing, so just one envelope.
As far as the response cards goes, I just rsvp'd to a website and it worked really well. They are getting married at a summer camp and we were able to make our reservation for a cabin at the same time. I'm sure it could be tweaked to include dinner choices. She used some run of the mill wedding website. Cute.
