Get a large piece of homosote or two at the hardware store depending on the dimensions of the reception space and where in the room you are going to place the boards. Cover the board with your favorite shade of linen (easy to do, you just stretch the fabric like a canvas and then use a staple gun to attach the fabric on the back - get instructions here.)
Next, get nails and hammer them into the board so each vase can hang securely by the hole it has in the back. You could either do a nice grid or put the nails in a more haphazard, organic arrangement. Hang the boards on the wall with picture hangers or lean them depending on the venue.
Fill each vase with a tiny bit of water and place a flower (peony, tulip, zinnia...the choices are endless) in each vase and make a pretty sign that says "please take me home." Hang or lean the board near the exit . As people leave, they can take home a flower in a beautiful glass hanging vase.
What do you think? Doable?

Totally doable...I love this idea! And it's inexpensive, too!

the whole ensemble looks really modern and fresh. I'm wondering if it also could be used for decorations...like a hanging flower over each dinner table?

That is such a wonderful idea. I'm also planing a wedding and while I don't have a place or date, I can't stop thinking about the small details. This one is great and I may "borrow" it for my own.

Good idea! Now I'm wondering if there's a way to incorporate this into decor/place cards or something so that the vases & flowers add to the day & make great favors...
