Posted by Alexis Givens This evening in the muggy heat wave we're having on the East coast, I keep thinking of summer trips to my Nana's condo in Naples, Florida.
To me, this palette screams Florida wedding. I can see it now...a room full of cheerful guests dancing the night away around tables with overflowing bowls of oranges. Perhaps I could convince my groom-to-be to wear a bright orange tie...unlikely but fun to think about. My inspiration for this palette is from a photo of an orange tree that I took at the Huntington Botanical Gardens in Pasadena, California. No, it's not Florida but just imagine it is.

I love the color palette. Orange and green are such vibrant colors and make everything feel so fresh. What a great board!

Hi Alexis!
I love your colour palette ideas, so I thought I would take the suggestions you make and transform them into our invitations so our readers could see what it would actually look like in their invitation designs. I thought this would be a great idea to do with every colour suggestion you give! Please visit my blog for today's post about the orange and green!

I agree with Madelyn, very fresh color combo. The bouquet and the cake images you have included are both simply gorgeous!

This is beautiful! I'm planning a beach wedding in Fort Lauderdale, and these citrusy oranges and greens are what I'm thinking of using for my color palette. I'm also thinking that I might incorporate some caribbean blue and sand colors since we'll literally be in a tent on the sand. "Citrus & Seashells" is what I have in my head. Do you think that might be too much? I also love the idea of using non-floral elements to decorate. We're planning on filling clear glass containers with oranges and limes, and maybe some with seashells to give the decor a fresh, clean, and unique look. And it's a lot cheaper than flowers!

Amanda,
Your wedding sounds gorgeous. Citrus & Seashells...I love that you have a name for it! Clear containers with oranges and limes are always beautiful and nothing beats a beach wedding. I say all in all, you've got the makings of a stylish and colorful wedding. If you are going for bright and colorful, I think the blue would be a great accent color. Bravo!

Brandi,
I can't believe that you live by the Huntington Library. It is one of my favorite places. You're one lucky lady! I'm oh so far away from California...

Beautiful color combinations! The family of one of my 2007 brides was very much involved in the Florida citrus industry in its heyday. The entire wedding was built around the Florida citrus theme with the focus on the orange and green color palette. Save the dates resembled vintage citrus postcards from Florida. Engagement photos were done on the grounds of the larger groves in the state. The wedding took place at the estate house of a historic grove site. The programs were printed on fans that featured a vintage citrus crate motif. The favors were citrus themed as well - small jars of orange blossom honey from a local citrus grove.

Beautiful color palette... When I used to live in LA, I love going to the Huntington Library for tea! What a lovely place!
