Planning Your Music Choices
I got a chance to catch up with Nina from Nina's Music Book who is known for providing amazing music for weddings and events.
Nina shared 3 things to keep in mind while planning the music for your special day.
1) Think of your wedding day as a movie. You're selecting music for each scene. At Nina's Music Book, we have brides think of picking music for their wedding day "soundtrack." (We've had brides pick everything from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to "Devil Went Down to Georgia!")
2) Brainstorm a list of tunes that are meaningful to you, your fiance and your relationship together. Any of these can be part of your wedding day "soundtrack". Walking down the aisle, a first dance, even as an interlude or during cocktails.
3) Ask your wedding musicians for suggestions. If you're leaning toward a more non-traditional or even out-of-the box "soundtrack", they should have fantastic suggestions. Ask for audio samples of their suggestions as well as ceremony programs from other weddings they've accompanied.

Great Advice!

As a former wedding DJ, this advice is so on target. Every wedding should reflect the couple and not be another cookie cutter event. Nina obviously gets that... and their website is ADORABLE!

Great advise Nina and Darcy, I have been telling my clients that they should also choose music that reflects them, just not just "wedding" standards. People often think that traditional weddings should have traditional songs, and I tell them that tradition is about what they do, not what they hear. I will definitely point out Nina's site to my clients now. Thanks for sharing.

I love this post! I cover music each Thursday with "little mix tapes" on my wedding blog. It's a live feed, where readers can listen and be inspired. I think music is such an important element to your big day and it's so refreshing to see good coverage, so "grazie mille" Nina and Darcy.
Music was such a big thing at my wedding frm our wedding favor CD that we produced and illustrated, to our dance and special musical guest/ mini concert. If it's done right, music can give an extra personal touch to your day.
