I recently had the pleasure of spending some time with designers Stephen and Robert of Birnbaum and Bullock. There is a lot of conversation these days about how companies are dealing with the current economic climate, and I think what they're doing is really great. To start, they are keeping their high end line—Birnbaum and Bullock. which they collaborate on—very couture, with all the special details and construction they are known for. (They also do a beautiful line of veils that match this line and can be purchased separately.) Then, for the first time, each has launched a line of his own, which consists of dresses at lower price points than their couture line but still give you the option of getting a dress made by these high-end designers. Stephen Birnbaum's line is more moderate, and his looks are clean, classic and modern. The dresses are short on embellishments so it's up to the bride to either leave it simple or accessorize however feels right to her. I adore a short mini of his (with pockets!) and a cute babydoll dress with a great coat to match. His line ranges at retail from $950-$2350.

Robert Bullock's line is even more accessible with a lower price point, ranging from $650-$1550, so you get the designer look and name for less. His gowns still have the embroidery, lace, beading details and pleating without the couture price tag. So, that's three different lines from the designers, and more options are always a good thing. Some brides buy a veil from their couture line and a less expensive dress from one of the designers' lines with the idea that the accessories make the dress and is worth the investment, since there's a better chance you'll pass down your veil than have your daughters wear your wedding dress. Which would you be more inclined to pass down?

I bought my gown here and both Robert and Stephen were a dream to work with. I couldn't have been more excited to visit their showroom each time I went for a fitting. Their gowns are gorgeous, light and perfectly constructed. I was floating on a cloud of silk all day long at my wedding thanks to them. Just spectacular!

Where do you find their lower priced dresses? Do they sell them at their 25th Street location?
