You don't need a heavily decorated cake to make it special and beautiful. A simple fondant covered cake topped with an cake topper can be amazing and not to mention less expensive. Here, custom stationery designer Cheree Berry designed this gorgeous stationery. She then sent it to D. Sharp who made this unique cake topper using only pieces from Cheree's stationery suite.
You can see more of these and other cake topper artisans' work in Art of Cakes on the Style Network, airing tomorrow at 9:00PM. Check your local listings.

What a great idea!
Another great way to save and still have a beautiful cake, is to have a dessert table with a smaller cake (feeding 50-75) surrounded by homemade treats- flavored marshmallows, sugar cookies, candies, etc. Have your aunts, grandmothers and girlfriends make their best recipes- you'll find everyone is eager to help!
I've listed more great cake advice on my blog, blisslistkc.blogspot.com!

My TiVO is set!
As inspiration for my Brides, I often use the "Chocolate Cakes & Sweets" article on your website (http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/article/chocolate-cakes-and-sweets?lnc=&page=3&rsc=articlecontent). I'm excited to see more ideas tomorrow evening.
Another dessert buffet site I love is www.amyatlas.com. I am sure you've visited Amy's site, but I thought I would share... just in case!

That's a fantastic idea that helps brides-to-be save costs. And it's beautiful, too. Tying the design of the invitation to that of the cake's will show guests how well-thought-out the details of your special day are.

Oh, just now seeing this post! Thank you so much for the opportunity Darcy! It was fun to work with Cheree again and MS Weddings.
I need to see this! The show is full of inspiring ideas, I am sure.
Best,
Denise
