As promised, here's a look at our Prop Library, where stylists from Martha Stewart Weddings, Everyday Food, and Martha Stewart Living find the pieces they need to create the beautiful images that make their way to you on the newsstand. As I mentioned last time, stylists source the most current, up to date products when considering our photo shoots, but to set the tone in an inspirational shot that's not necessarily product driven, they turn to the unique items in our Prop Library. They've been gathered from across the country (ebay's a big help!) and span every household item you can think of. We literally could open up our own catering business.
Here is a selection of every day china, as well as unique salt cellars, egg cups, and the like. Stylists sift through these to find the style and color that best match the scene they are trying to convey.
Here, you'll find every type of glassware, from formal champagne coupes to casual juice glasses.
And this is where we get all those cake stands for our lovely cake shots. Color-coded, of course.
I guess what it all boils down to is that we are great collectors of nearly everything. What do you think of our Prop Library? Do you have a collection of items that puts ours to shame? What is it? Let me know.

Those cake stands are too much. I love that not only do you have every color, you seem to have every shade.

I've been moving from apartment to apartment carting around boxes of everything I've collected. Once I get into a house my dream is to set up a storage room with shelving to emulate the Martha Prop Room. ...I may even be able to challenge your milkglass collection!

I love milkglass, Emily. My boyfriend's mom has a collection of vintage spoons, of which I'm highly jealous. (You wouldn't believe how many of those we have in the Prop Library, too.) And I'm thinking of starting my own collection of birdcages big and small (also in the Library). I think they have great potential around the house!

I'm literally drooling.
Not that I would ever need that many color coded cake plates. But it would be great to have the selection!

I just want to live on one of those shelves. Any chance we can arrange a small mattress and that way I can play imaginary tea parties all night long...

Wow, Mary Beth. Collecting letters is a great idea. I already have one gold "J" hanging at my desk. I'll be on the lookout for many more. Thanks!
