Well, it's been an action-packed day here at Engage '09, filled with lots of interesting discussions led by bridal industry experts. (I learned that brides are cutting corners by eliminating videography, which I think is just crazy. After all, don't you love watching your parents' wedding video now?)
I also led a discussion about real weddings in MSW, and there were plenty of questions. Amy Rubins of Fete Perfection asked if people really need to give wedding favors. The obvious answer is, of course, no, but we've done so many gorgeous favors over the years—from sweets to a custom CD to a charitable donation—I find it hard to imagine a wedding without them. Marley Majcher of the Party Goddess tried to get me to admit to what I think is the most tired wedding industry trend. But I completely disappointed her because I feel that nothing is tired in the wedding industry—no matter how many times it's been seen, if a bride likes it, she should have it. It's her day!
At lunch, I sat with wedding photographer Laura Novak, who was telling me about all the keepsake photo products she creates for her brides, including a bamboo handle bag. I'm sharing lots of other snapshots from industry experts I've been spending time with, so check back in tomorrow!
