Crepe Paper

Jodi Levine, formerly of the Martha Stewart Living crafts department and now developing Martha Stewart merchandise, had one of my favorite weddings of all time—and I got to work on it! The whole thing was a paper celebration, namely crepe paper. We made tons and tons of crepe paper flowers, which we threaded into garlands to decorate the huppah and the cake, and used solo to embellish one guest's lapel. The photos are linked to easy how-to's just in case you want to replicate them for your wedding.

The nice thing about crepe paper is how resilient/forgiving it is—you can kind of man handle it into the shape you want. Here is a basic crepe paper flower how-to. You can buy it on rolls, which makes it easy to cut into garlands, the technique we used when mass producing for this wedding. (Another little secret: we used a gathering foot for the sewing machine to make the white pleated skirt on the cake). Here are some more of my favorite crepe paper crafts:
