I'm currently working on a project in California that requires beautiful tiles, so I called the great team at Heath Ceramics for samples. Today we received several boxes of vibrant tiles—one for almost every day of the year!
I immediately started grouping tiles for color inspiration (love the slate, blue, and mustard palette above). Tile can be a great tool to have in your arsenal when it comes to creating the perfect palette. It's like bringing paint chips to life, plus it shows you exactly how each color will pop in a very tactile way.
How are you coming up with color inspiration? Are you playing with tiles, pulling out swatches, or gathering real life objects? However you choose, remember to consider having more than two colors for your palette. Adding an unexpected jolt of red or orange, or playing on tonal varieties within a single color will make a monochromatic palette much more unique!

LOVE Heath! Amazing pottery too.

I went to the Home Depot paint section to pick my color palette. They have every color in the rainbow + Free sample color cards (as many as you can stash in your purse) + Snazzy names to go along with the colors you pick.
Mine ended up being "Deep Amethyst", "French Country Blue", "Blue Cloud", "Shell White". It sounds as pretty as it looks!

Great suggestion for using Home Depot as a source for swatches. They have so many to choose from and the whimsical, romantic names for the various colors can inspire new ideas for your palette!

I was inspired to use colors that remind me of some of my favorite things- the silver of a Nordstrom gift box and bow, the signature Martha Stewart "blue" used on her website and other branding..and the cheery hot pink found amongst many of the items in my closet!

That is fantastic to hear you found inspiration in your own closet and in the things you look at, purchase and collect!

Ah, I love Heath! They put together amazing color palettes. I'd love to see a wedding with Heath place settings... maybe it'd have to be a small wedding, but it would be beautiful! Can MSW do a shoot, please?!
