As I mentioned yesterday, one of our food stylists, Shira Bocar, worked with us on the well-spent wedding story that ran in our summer issue (still on stands; if you haven’t picked one up yet, run and get it NOW!).
We worked with a group of super talented vendors, and in the process of developing and shooting the story, Shira was really influenced by some of their work and the ideas we came up with together. So when she married Geoff a few months later, she decided to include them in her big day.
I promised you a peek at her beautiful day, beautifully captured by Robert Sukrachand, and I’m going to stay true to that promise…
Here’s the happy couple. Readers, meet Shira and Geoff. Their wedding was on June, 13th 2009, at 632 On Hudson in New York City. The bride wore a stunning Vera Wang dress.
Shira, who spends the majority of her days dreaming up recipes here in the Martha Stewart test kitchen, knows a thing or two about food. She wasn’t about to book just any caterer. But she was impressed with Marcey Brownstein Catering & Events on our photo shoot and was able to create a fabulous family-style menu for her wedding feast.
After dinner, guests were served this divine cake. And just as the pages of our magazine suggested, she went the Whole Foods Market route. Shira got some help from fellow food editor, Elizabeth Colling, who assembled and decorated the cake with buttercream and topped it off with this vintage figurine.
Naomi DeMañana was booked for all things floral. Here’s the bridal bouquet she came up with. It's got chamomile flowers, peonies, and some feathers tucked around the edges. (Naomi also did the amaryllis bouquet on page 200 of our summer issue).
And a few other photos I just HAD to share.
Shira and her bridesmaids, Jayna and Leina.
Geoff and Shira stay dry during the summer shower...one of many in one of the rainiest June's in history.

Why is everyone calling a buffet "family style" lately? That's a totally different thing! This is a picture of a buffet! Are we all changing verbiage? Can we caterers get a copy of this memo, please? =)

Thanks for the kind words about the letterpress invitations we created with Shira and Geoff! They were a blast to work with, and the wedding pictures show off their impeccable taste.
