To Infinity and Beyond...

Erin and Noah are getting married in three weeks… in space.

Weddingstoryboard2

Not on the moon or in orbit, but in a zero-gravity flight meant to mimic interstellar conditions that departs from Cape Canaveral, FL. In addition to a handful of guests, this space-loving duo will take flight and say “I Do” while being weightless. Clad in a special zero gravity dress and a custom tux with tails that will also take advantage of their floating state, they’ll exchange wedding bands made from a meteorite with the help of their officiant—a former NASA space traveler.

Though this kind of wedding certainly isn’t for everyone, you gotta admire a couple like this. They have a thing for space, are big supporters of private space travel, and may very well end up in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only couple to get married while defying gravity at 34,000 feet up in the air. That is, unless you're planning your own intergalactic nuptials ... any takers?

They’re hosting a special event tonight at 7pm in NYC. You can swing by and preview her custom dress, hear some space-inspired music, and eat astronaut food!

The World's Biggest Wedding Album

Wedding Photo

I studied abroad in London back in college and visited countless museums during my stay. After all, most of them were free to students, and I was there to soak it all up. One of my favorite museums was (and still is) the Victoria and Albert, and I think I could probably wander around there for days.

And what does my museum hopping have to do with weddings? Well aside from housing all sorts of inspirational pieces, it recently started prepping for a massive wedding exhibit for 2011. Kinda like a long engagement, it’s taking about two years to plan.

That’s where you come in. They’re asking for photo contributions to build a database dating from the Victorian period through today. So go share photos of you in your dress, or any of the lovely women in your family on their special day.

Or just peruse gowns by decades. It’s pretty addictive. I can’t wait to see the 1980s category fill up with ladies clad in puffy sleeves larger than their heads and blue eye shadow up to their eyebrows. In the meantime, I added my parents’ wedding portrait (that’s them above)—classic 1970s, with my mom's flipped and feathered hair and my dad's flared three-piece suit. They're still going strong, although their taste in fashion and hairstyles has thankfully shifted.

Will you take part in the exhibit?

Call me crazy...

Heidi Klum is known for her outrageous Halloween bashes, but now she's channelled that energy into rethinking her annual vow-renewing ceremony with Seal. One question, though: Why would you ever want pictures like these to commemorate your anniversary? I've never seen two beautiful people look more unattractive, but I guess that's the point, right? And, after all, this is their zillionth wedding, so why not have fun with it? What do you think?

Invitation Animation

Posted by Jennifer Miranda, Associate Editor

We've been in the weddings business for a long time (almost 15 years to be precise), but I've never seen a wedding invitation like this. Creative, engaging, and completely unique (the perfectly-timed Vampire Weekend soundtrack doesn't hurt either), it's sure to make you smile—then wish you were actually invited to the wedding. Can you imagine what the couple has in store for guests at their reception?

Everyone in the office is buzzing about it. What do you guys think of it?

Help Her Pay For Her Wedding?

Posted by Shira Savada, Real Weddings Editor:

Well, this is new. A bride just started a new blog on Monday, Help Me Pay For My Wedding!, in the hopes of people donating to her big day. She says it's an experiment and not a charity, but regardless of what it's being called, it's certainly an interesting move. I'm not sure what I think yet, but it seems that it's causing quite the stir.

According to the blog, she's already gotten a mix of angry comments and happy donations. So what do you think?
