More From TV Land

I was filing away scripts from the weddings special we did this week on Martha and came across a few ideas for you to keep in mind as you plan your own wedding.

Havaianas
These festive flip-flops are perfect for your honeymoon, or for you and your bridesmaids if you're having a destination wedding somewhere warm. They could even be given to all the guests if you’re having a smaller celebration, or for the kids in your bridal party after their big walk down the aisle.

Flipvideo
A mini camcorder (especially one you can custom design with a pattern or photo) is a great tool to have while documenting your wedding planning. Then, give some footage to your wedding videographer to incorporate into your wedding video. Another fun idea? Have the best man and maid of honor keep one in their pocket on all those big days—the shower, rehearsal dinner, getting ready before the ceremony—to get funny behind the scenes footage.

This Week's Martha Show!

Posted by Darcy Miller, Editorial Director

I hope you all enjoyed our wedding special on the MARTHA show yesterday. If you missed it, you can find it on FINE LIVING. I am following up on my post from Monday when I discussed dressing the kids. We ended up with a khaki jacket and pants from Crewcuts and a flower girl dress from Vera Wang. When I was borrowing the flower girl dress, I also borrowed these cute tulle hair pins, which I put in the flower girl's hair but are really great for a bride, too. Her shoes were twinkle ballet flats, also from Crewcuts.

When it came to finding a ring pillow, we called on our friend Vane of Brooklyn Bride, who was kind enough to send over this one from her own line. I also love the one we featured in our latest issue for a Spring wedding. Check it out.

Ja'maal Buster

Posted by Darcy Miller, Editorial Director

It's great to put your look in the hands of a trusted local makeup artist, but don’t forget to do your research first. Pull inspiration for how you want your makeup to look from magazines, beauty blogs, and makeup counters. Are you going for something modern and clean? Soft and romantic? There are so many color combinations and application techniques it's astounding!

A trend that's all the rage now? When deciding on your wedding look, there's always a lot of conversation about the gown (straight or full), the hair (up or down), the bridesmaids gowns (long or short)—but I never hear conversation about eyelashes (false or real).  If you want to learn more (and I'm dying to) watch celebrity eyelash guru Ja'maal Buster today on our wedding show on Martha. I'm secretly hoping he'll do my lashes that day, but I doubt he'll have time.

Our Beauty Expert Cara Sullivan wholeheartedly endorses the false eyelashes on your wedding day trend. And I actually did not use false eyelashes for my wedding, but think it sounds like fun! What do you think of it?

Frederic Fekkai

Are you a hair-up, hair-down, or a something-in-between bride? I find so many brides have that dilemma. Women who wear their hair down normally sometimes think an up-do wont feel like them; then there are others who think that having their hair down might be too sloppy or unfinished on their wedding day.

Of course, you want to look at your photos and feel like it's you staring back. That's why trial runs are so important. Also, consider having another hairstyle waiting in the wings after the ceremony—something a little looser and more relaxed (which is much less expensive than changing into a second dress for a different reception look).

Want to see an expert at work creating the ultimate wedding hairstyles? Tune in to the MARTHA show tomorrow to watch renowned stylist Frederic Fekkai and Martha create three uniquely different yet stylish looks.
